Book Discussion Group - Book Discussion this is now an ad hoc event hosted by Dean and Jane Howard, 153 Colonial Ave. in Albany. (518) 729-4387. Follow the yahoo group or contact Dean for the next meeting. Bulletin deadline for items to be included in the next bulletin!!! Always on the 15th unless special dispensation is granted by yours truly.

First Friday Lunch Bunch – Returning by popular demand, with a brand new host! Starting at 12:00 noon at the Food Court area on the second level at Colonie Center on Wolf Road, Albany. Contact Willard Hoyt for information and encouragement at (518) 732-2390. Look for the newsletter on the table.

Folding Frenzy / Label Lunacy followed by libations. Guilderland Public Library, 2228 Western Avenue Guilderland, NY 12084 at 6:00 p.m. The reference desk can point you to whichever of the study rooms they’ve given us. We spend about an hour stapling and sticking labels on these delightful bulletins you enjoy each month. After this labor of love we head off to a local restaurant, decided by the labeling participants. It’s a lot of fun, really. Call Judy 895-2513 or Andrew for info and encouragement. Dinner follows at Chico’s (2490 Western Ave, Guilderland, NY) for excellent BBQ.

Games Night  When: Saturday, July 25th, 6 pmWhere: My house! 3 Cyndi Ct, Niskayuna  So there it is - games on Saturday, July 25th! My house in Niskayuna. And let me say it is great to have new people come onboard and have fun and stick around, like so many flies on flypaper! The theme this month will be RANDOM GAMES! And I'm a stickler for randomness, which by definition means that every game will have an equal chance of being played, as opposed to haphazard selection or dart-throwing or blindfolded selection, all of which favor certain selections over others. So after disqualifying certain games as "nonplayable" (antiques, kid's games, solitaire games, etc) I'll do my best to come up with a randomization scheme and that ought to be fun. I do welcome other ideas, but might have to fall back on cataloguing my collection and using a random number generator...but I've wanted to catalog it for a while anyway so that's okay. I will let you all know if my scheme will be able to include other games that you bring, or not, so stay tuned on that. That's it! See you all soon! If you have not been here before, all I ask is that you let me know you're planning on coming and how many will be with you so I can anticipate it. Thanks! 372-2444 / 391-3799 goodkingjohn13-at-yahoo.com

Mini-Golf @ Latham Greens:  Come Join Mensa for some Medieval Themed Mini Golf at the Latham Greens Family Fun Center (www.lathamfamilyfun.com) at 618 New Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110 at 6:00PM Saturday, July 11th. Where else can you need to calculate complex incident angles, moduli of elasticity and account for that darn windmill. All that fun and afterward we can have a bite to eat and some ice cream. Families are Welcome! But there is always a possibility that the adults will move along to the nearest watering hole as the evening winds down. Contact the host, Andrew Heffernan for more information: 518-788-0019

Newcomers Dinner  Third Monday. Third Monday. What is old is new again.  Harry & Judy scoped out the re-opened Van Dyck and liked what we saw and tasted. Good, interesting fare at reasonable prices with excellent service and atmosphere. There is a wonderful patio out back where we will be weather permitting. If the weather is inclement check in the side room, to the right as you enter. The main dining room seemed to have received some acoustical improvements so it may work as well. It will be our first group revisit so we’ll have to play it by ear. Harry, our host looks an awful lot like Albert Einstein which this makes us easier to find. Call Harry at 895-2513 or email ringerha@crd.ge.com for information or encouragement. New and old members are welcome. Van Dyck Restaurant 237 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12305 - (518) 348-7999. www.vandycklounge.com.

Vermont Monthly Event - Montshire Museum, Norwich, VT  Young Mensans of All Ages Saturday, August 15th, 10:00 am  This time we are combining with our friends in New Hampshire and encouraging kids. The Montshire Museum of  Science in Norwich has amazing hands on exhibits. Pack for the day, and wear clothes that can get wet, the water pressure exhibit is just as interactive as the rest of the museum. If we want to get further a field there are miles of nature trails around the Fish and Wildlife Refuge that runs around the Montshire. For any further information see www.montshire.org. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and expect to use all of them. Meet up in the parking lot to plan the day. Please bring food for a picnic lunch, and then we may go to a restaurant for dinner if that is agreeable to all present. Admission fees are: adults $10; children 2 to 17 $8. Members and children under 2 are admitted free. If I get a substantial number of RSVPs I will inquire about group rates, which are slightly cheaper. (Please RSVP to Mark and Elizabeth Becker 603-744-3757, or beckerbecker626@gmail.com) Here are the directions lifted mostly from the website. Montshire is located off exit 13 of I-91.
